Dog balloon catheters work in such a way that a balloon is employed to hold the catheter towards the inner side of the urinary tract. Such placements as this not only limits migration, but they also facilitate the control of drainage and the delivery of medicine, if need be. Once the balloon has been placed, it is blown beyond the point of no return. This provides support to other tissues and limits the trauma that may arise from movement. These catheters are important in the management of urinary problems in dogs and therefore, enable veterinary surgeons to attend to these patients in time.
